8 THURSDAY, FEB. 13, 1947 THE EAGLE, VERNONIA, ORE. ROCK CREEK—Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Buckley and Edith McFar land attended the dairy co-op meeting in Portland. Mr. and Mirs. David White have moved into the little house on Perry McFarland’s place. Little Nancy Judd, who broke her leg a couple of weeks ago, is able to lie on crutches, and mfgnt go to school the latter part of the week. Lloyd Gillham, Sr., and Lloyd Gillham, Jr., motored to Forest Grove last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. Lindsley called at the Albert Krieger home Thursday night. The Lindsleys are driving a new car. • PREUM WON BY VERNONIA The Tuesday night preliminary game was fought between the Banks Braves and the Vernonia “B” squad in which Vernonia won 27-19. Walfcomott was high scorer for the Loggers with 10 points and Van Domeliq scored 14 points for the Braves. Twenty-one fouls were called in this game, 7 against Vernonia and 14 against Banks. Banks led the first quarter score 7-4. Half-time score was 11-8 for Vernonia and third quar ter score was 19-14, final score 27-19 both in favor of Vernonia. I PETE BRUNSMAN Grange Meeting Attended Sat Dairy Co-op -Meet Attended BOLTS, ROPE, SAWS, CRESCENT WRENCHES, NAILS ROCK CREEK—Mr. and H. A. DeWitt, Mr. and Lloyd Gillham and James nick attended Grange Saturday night. < Mrs. Lander is staying with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. Lloyd. Mrs. Lander lost her husband a few weeks ago. Blanche DeWitt and Lucille Lindsley walked up to the dam and power house Sunday. There was quite a lot of snow there. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hanson and boys of Vernonia were week end guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Han- son. Ted ,DeWitt is out on his mo- torcycle. Spring must be on the way. Lloyd Gillham is up and around after being ill several weeks with the flu. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gillham have quite a few new baby sheep and baby goats in spite of the snow. Mrs. Georgia Jones and daugh ter, Janella, of Portland, spent the week end with Mrs. Jones’ sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mr3. Otto Bittner. Mr .and Mrs. Frank Smith and son of Portland called on his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. P. McFarland. Martyn Siebert is improving after his attack of rheumatic fe- ver. Blanche DeWitt, Mae Krieger and Lucille Lindsley called on Isola Morris Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Peffley of Portland visited with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Brown and John. BroWn. Blanche DeWitt, Mae Krieger and Iva Gillham called on Ella Ferris last Friday. Delbert Lander is staying with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and. Mrs. L. Lloyd. Blanche DeWitt and Lucille Lindsley called on Mrs. Jack Ca tron to see the baby.
