Our Great America House Being Painted fa && Ernest Hollenbeck has been holding down two jobs this last week—his job in the woods and the painting of his house on North street after hours. TOPICS OF THE TOWN Picnic Held Sunday Here from Twenty-eight guests from Ver nonia, Hillsboro and Portland attended a picnic Sunday at the Henry John home at Trehaine in honor of Cpl. Marvel Frank. At tending from here were Mr. and M~s. H. H. Frank and family, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. John and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Frank and family, Mrs. E. R. Frank and son, Mists Helen Frank and Miss Shirley Ann Brady. Mr. and Mrs. R. Flanders spent from Saturday until the fore part of this week here from Portland. They visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hirsch. Both of the visitors are employed at the Multnomah county court house where he works in the tax department. Will Move to Clatskanie C. C. Piper plans to move to Clatskanie after September 15th to make his home. The house formerly owned by school dis trict 87 at Sunset Camp, which voted to consolidate with dis trict 47 thia summer, has been purchased from district 47 by Jewett A Bush and moved to Clatskanie. Mrs. Bergerson Returns Mrs. Harold Bergerson and son, Bill, returned the latter part of last week from near Camp Roberts, California where she has been since June. Her husband is stationed there. Here from Lebanon Mr. and Mrs. John Hatfield of Lebanon arrived here Tuesday night to visit friends until Thurs day before returning to their home. Walla Walla Mrs. Ed Burton and Sgt. and Mrs. Eddie Roberts left early this week for Walla Walla where Sgt. Burton is in the veterans hospital. Livingstones to Vacation Rev. and Mrs. W. O. Living stone plan to leave Monday for a 10-day vacation which they will spend at Breitenbush Springs. During their absence the 90 and 9 Men will conduct the services on August 26th. Here Visiting Mrs. Florence Ward and her daughter, Miss Dorothy Nanson, are here visiting at the Art Nanson home. Their home is at Chula Vista, California. to Portland Mr. and Mrs. William Shafer left for Portland Wednesday morning for a visit with their son, Arthlo Shafer, brother of Mrs. Otis Fuller and Mrs. Mike White. To Raised A flag pole for the Legion hall was raised early this week by Legion members. Work Here Mrs. Phyllis Henry has been here visiting with friends since August 3rd. Her husband, Glenn Henry, formerly employed by Clark and Wilson, has just been sent overseas. She is returning to Kettle, Wn. for her small daughter, Donna, who has been staying with Mrs. Henry’s par ents. They will return the first of the coming week and then Mrs. Henry will go to work for the Hugh Divines at the Squeeze. Inn. Here from Everett Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hartzell and son, Howard, of Everett, Washington were here from Sun day a week ago to last Saturday visiting his parents, G. H.
