Brother Visited
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Carriker
have just returned from a visit
with her brother, Lewis Smith,
at Kingston, Wash. He served
in N. Africa, Sicily, Italy, France
and Germany and has the purple
heart, six battle stars, a French
decoration and an honorable dis­
charge. Frs. Carriker has a 500-
franc note which he gave her as
a souvenir. It has a value of
$10 in American money.

Several families from this vi­
cinity were in Portland Sunday
to attend a picnic reunion at
Peninsula park of the Peterson
clan. Attending from here were
Mr. an dMrs. Emil Messing, Mr.
and Mrs. R. S. Lindsay, Mr. and
Mrs. Noble Dunlap, Mr. and Mr3.
Ira Petersen and Mrs. Mary
Peterson, only direct member of
the clan now living. The event
has not, been held since 1941 but
was an anual reunion before that
time.
