Special 80% Collision Farmers Urged to Ask for Limest Every farmer in Columbia coun ty is urged to use his soil-building allowance in the soil conservation by the application of ground lime stone. Increased agricultural pro duction of needed foods and feeds for conversion into foods is needed at the present time in view of the National Defense emergency. It is up to every farmer to help in rJa- tional Defense by increasing pro ductivity to maintain an adequate food supply. Field trials have shown that the use of ground limestone will increase the production of red clover, alsike clover, vetches, lettuce, peas, al falfa, root crops and other field and garden crops sensitive to acid soils. Limestone Available Limestone is available under the 1941 Tripie-A program to farmers that have signed the 1941 Esti mate Sheet, and the lime can be delivered from the Oswego Lime Plant to the farm at freight costs only. The calcium content of the lime is about 95 per cent and on most soils one to two tons per acre is adequate. There is no doubt that there wilt be an increase in the price of lime beginning the first of the year, so all farmers are urged to contact the Triple-A office in St. Helens as soon as possible.
