OREGON PAGE SIX LET’S BE SOCIABLE Ruth Boeck Honored at Surprise Party— Banquet Honors Grade Basketeers— A surprise birthday party was given in honor of Ruth Boeck at her home on Saturday evening, April' 15, by her mother, Mrs. L. C. Boeck and aunt, Mrs. O. W. Boeck. The evening was spent in playing games and singing. She received many nice gifts. A uncheon of cocoa, cake, jello and ice cream was served at a late hour. School instructors present for the affair were E. H. Condit, Paul Gor- don and Robert Sl'awson. Initiated— At the regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary three candidates were initiated into the order. They were Mrs. Blanche King, Mrs. Hazel Shipman and Mrs. Letha Tousley. Mrs. A. J. Schultz reported that the easter egg hunt was a very successful affair and we wish to extend our thanks to scout master Jewell Lloyd and his scout troop who so ably assisted in conducting the egg hunt. The committee in charge of a cooked food sale to be held Satur day, April 22nd, at Sam and Bob's store are Mrs. Tousley, Mrs. Boeck and Mrs. Schultz. All members are urged to bring food Saturday morn ing or contact Mrs. A. J. Schultz and a car will be sent for it. The Auxiliary will give their annual banquet for the high school seniors and the faculty on May 16 at the Legion hall. The resignation of our secretary treasurer, Lottie Jarvis, who recent ly moved to Portland was accepted and Bess Nichols was elected to fill the vacancy. We were pleased to have with Us Mrs. Vivian Urie, who is presi dent of the American Legion Aux iliary, District No. 1. She gave a very instructive and inspiring talk. After the close of the meeting refreshments were served by Mrs. Vosnitk, Mrs. Boeck and Mrs. Peterson. Mrs. Vaughan Entertains Club— Mrs. J. W. Vaughan entertained a two table bridge party Saturday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Judd Greeriman, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Olin. Mr. and Mrs. Olin won high score. Knight’s Initiation Staged by Sisters— A group of Pythian Sisters of North Plains Temple assisted the Vernonia Temple Wednesday even ing, Aprii 12, in staging a Knight’s Initiation for Harry M. Culbertson, the candidate. Refreshments and a social hour followed the meeting.
