FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 1939 LET’S BE SOCIABLE Birthday Party Honors Daughter— Amateur Night, Social Successful— Mrs. Walter Thompson gave a birthday party for her little girl, Helen, who is six years old. Ice cream and cake wfe served to tea gj< sts, Peggy Ann Ortner, Denny Morris, Dtrlene Aspinall, Beverly Cine, Pete Norris, Anne Olin, Billy Eckland, Billy Powers and Boibby Dean Fulton. Other guests were Mrs. McCauley and baby and Mrs. Jervis. Members and friends of members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles were entertained last Friday even ing with a pie social and amateur acts presented by various young people in the community. The even ing’s entertainment was staged as a means of gaining funds to be used for the financing of the Eagle softbali team for play, this summer, in the Vernonia Softball League Funds derived from the evening were deemed a considerable step by committeemen in charge of ths al lair. Prill Gordon reviewed the book, “After 1903, What?”, by Robert Benchley. As a humorist, Mr. Benchley is enjoyed by many on his radio program. He has written a number of books. This one is composed of a scries of humorous rsscys. and it was well' reviewed by Mrs. Gordon. Ihree new members were present for the first time and were welcom ed into the club. They are, Mrs. Wiiliam Heath, Mrs. Robert Rush- ing and Mrs. E. H. Condit. The next meeting will be on April 13th rnd a visit to the home of Mis. E. S.
