Campbell died Friday July 15, at his home near Apiary, of an gina pectoris, of which he had been ill for some time. Mr. Campbell was born in Port land May 15, 1868, and on Novem ber 19, 1894, married Miss Nevada McCorkle of that city. For the last eight years he farmed near Apiary ROY COOPER PASSES— Roy Cooper passed away early Sunday evening after a lingering ill ness of several months. He was born Feb. 2, 1886 in Benton county and was reared in Benton county. He graduated with the class of 1909 and came to Goble in 1920 where he has since resided in the Beaver Homes and Goble communities. He is survived by his widow Ada, and three children. He had a wide ac quaintance in all walks, and! was es pecially active in affairs of a civic nature. He had served for several years as a director on the grade school board, assuming the chair manship when relinquished by the late Mayor Ben S. Owens. The two well known men worked together during the construction of fhe new Washington grade school. Mr. Brown was city treasurer at the tints of his death and had de voted much time toward the finan cial problems of the city, often telling his friends that “I am livin 4 for the day when Vernonia will be bond free.” He was a member of the Masons at Echo, Oregon, the Royal Arch Masons here, as well as having been active in the Woodmen of the World, I. O. O. F. and Eagles. The obituary presented at the last rites follows: James William Brown was born in Payette, Idaho, March 8, 1881. At an early age came to Gar field county, Washington, with his mother and stepfather. He was one of the early settlers of Pomeroy, Washington. He was preceded in death by one son, Lester. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; his mother, Mrs. Mary Shawley of Pomeroy, Washington; and three sisters, Mrs. Mae Gilbanks of Yakima, Mrs. Alta Weimer of Pomeroy, and Mrs. Stella Harris of Connell, Washington.
