Forty years ago this spring joke smiths were making the world laugh at an amazing news Item from Wurzburg, Germany. A pro fessor of physics at the university there had announced the discovery of ■ ray which permitted him to see through solid objects. When asked what It was he said he didn’t know—It was Invisible. He had proved it was not light, yet It would take a photograph. He frankly called it an “X” (unknown) ray. Tlie local scientific society voted that the new ray should be called after Its discoverer. So to day It Is called either the X-ray or the Roentgen ray, after William Konrad Roentgen. The National Tuberculosis association, which Is conducting throughout April an "Early Diagnosis Campaign,” has for Its slogan, “Fight Tuberculosis With Modern Weapons,” and calli attention to the fact that the X-raj and tuberculosis test are the weap ons It means. Minnesota Town Is Run by Women Co-Eds Firmer Than Men in Holding to Studies Lewisburg, Pa.—Women are stead ier than men, according to conclu sions drawn by the “Rucknelllan," student newspaper at the Bucknell university. The paper conducted a survey of the number of students who changed courses after the opening of the term and found that 225 men switched classes, while only 121) coeds changed their programs. It j was concluded that women In gen | eral may change their minds more frequently than men, but coeds ex hibited more steady convictions.
