Westimber was held to seven points in the first quarter, while the high school rolled in two field goals. During the second period Westimber slipped in six points while holding their opponents to four. In the second half the CCC lads bombarded the basket to roll their score up to 22. This game will be the first real test of this year’s basket ball team. The outcome is very uncertain for Vernonia has never played against Beaverton before. A return game will be played on January 22. A group of stu dents expect to go along with the team to lend their support. GIRLS’ ATHLETIC CLUB The Girls’ Athletic club bps not, as yet, done much toward playing basketball. They have had no means of raising money to buy material to play with, but the Girls’ league is planning to give them some money from the proceeds of their bazaar and this money will go to buy a basket ball and some nets for baskets. It seems that these girls who are interested in playing basketball do not get much encouragement from anyone outside of the club. If they did have a little more backing, they might be able to develop a girls’ team that the school would be proud ot. STUDENT BODY MEETING A student body meeting was held Monday during activity per iod. President Holcomb announc ed that a box would be placed up on the stage in which the names for the football and basketball team may be placed. Friday they will vote on the selected names. Mr. McEntire announced the basketball game to be held to night at Beaverton. A bus is to be taken to Beaverton. All stud ents who wish to go may go for 25 cents a round trip. Mr. McEntire also announced that the seniors were to sponsor the Christmas program to be held this afternoon. LODGES | A. F. of L.
