The marriage of Dorothy Rat- kie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ratkie of Everett, Wash., and Harvard Malmsten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Malmsten of Vernonia, was solemnized Sat urday afternoon, April 7, in Sed- ro Wooley, Wash. The marriage service was read in the presence of the immediate families of the bride and groom by the Rev. M. Heverling, who was a pastor of the Vernonia Evangelical church many years ago, and who has been a friend of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Malm sten since before their marriage. The bride was charming in a»i attractive blue suit with hat and accessories to match. The young couple will reside in Vernonia where they have many friends, both having been school mates in the Vernonia high school of which they are graduates. Mrs. Malmsten is a Vernonia girl, as she lived in the River view district with her parents un til they moved to Everett last fall. Mrs. Sidney Malmsten, mother of the groom, and Leonard Malm sten, his brother, accompanied him north for the wedding, and on the return trip w’hich occupied two days the party visitea rela tives in Seattle and' Longview. RAINBOW PROGRAM INCLUDES PLAY SHOWER GIVEN FOR CELESTE POETTER A miscellaneous shower was given Thursday in honor of Cel este Poetter at the home of Mrs. J. A. McDonald. The hostesses were Mrs. J. A. McDonald, Mrs. Florence McDonald, Iris McDon- and Ceil McDonald. Those present were Mrs. E. Koberstein, Mrs. L. A. Billings, Mrs. A. W. Sauer, Mrs. A. J. Sitts, Mrs. B. J. Cline, Mrs. C. U. Enstrom, Mrs. J .Boeck, Emily Steele, Mrs. L. A. Rogers, Ida Johnson, Mrs. M. F. John, Mrs. M. L. Porterfield, Sally Brown, Mrs. F. Claude Stephens, Mrs. J. W. Rosa, Mrs. J. Jablonski, Mrs. F. POETTER MARRY Miss Celeste McDonald, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mc Donald, and Charles R. Poetter, son of A. W. Poetter, were mar ried April 7 at the parsonage of the pastor of the Christian church in Kelso, Wash. After the cere mony they visited a relative, Ed ith Poetter Retalic, in Longview, and returned to Vernonia. Sunday night they were greeted with a charivari, and candy and cigars were served. Those who witnessed the wed ding ceremony and went to Longview were Jule Poetter, Frances McGraw and Mrs. H. A. Moulton. An interesting program includ ing a play which was prepared by members of Nehalem assemb ly, Order of Rainbow, was pre sented Monday night following the regular business meeting of the assembly. The play, entitled “The Duchess Breezes In,” was presented by a cast as follows: Jeanne Hughes,! HELENS DEGREE TEAM VISITS LODGE HERE A degree team from Avon lodge, Knights of Pythias, at St. Helens put on the third degree work at the meeting of Harding lodge Monday night. Oscar G.
