Perhaps one of your neighbors has a few extra plants which can be obtained. Transplanting is best done during cloudy weather, but if the weather is warm, shingles should be used to shade the plants on the southwest side until they are established. Aphis and green worm are like ly to be a problem, but can be controlled by using an all-in-one dust containing arsenate of lead, nicotine sulphate, lime or sul phur as a carrier. Spring planted beets and ear- rota cannot be depended upon to provide winter supplies of these roots. On land where ir rigation is available or moisture has been held, replantings should be made in late June or July. Fall rains will bring them on to maturity. Celery is another fall vegetable, the plants of which should be set out during July for fall and winter use.
