Dowling CHRISTIAN CHURCH Mr. and Mrs. Clark Fenton drove over from Ostrander Sat urday for a visit. Mr. Fenton went back Monday but Mrs. ten- ton remained over for a longer visit. Wm. Bridgers drove to Cor vallis Sunday taking his niece Miss Alberta DeRock back to school. Leia Johnston also went with them. Mrs. Agatha Nelson returned to her school duties near The Dalles after the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sundland went to Portland Monday to take their son Donald that far on his way to Monmouth after the holiday vacation. Mrs. E. T. Wallace returned home the last of the week from several days visit with relatives in Portland and vicinity. Mrs. Clark Fenton was a guest Monday night at the Austin Dow ling home. Mr. and Mrs. A. Buckley were down from Vernonia visiting her mother, Mrs. Reynolds, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. E. Reynolds were dinner guests Friday night of Mr. and Mrs. Carrington. Several cases of whooping cough have made their appear ance among the school children this week. Some of the Louden children are among those that have it. Mrs. Chas. Webber, small daughter Virginia, and son Charles are visiting at Meadow Brook farm, the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Melis. The Mist-Birkenfeld quartet met at the A. Dowling home Monday evening for their song practice. The quartet is composed of Bernard Dowling, first tenor, Clyde Harmon, second tenor, A. R. Mills, bass, and Eder Wallace, baritone. They will sing at Clats kanie January 7 for the Eastern Star installation. Mrs. Mills was also a guest at the Dowling home. She plays for the quartet. Mrs. J. Lawyer was in the village Monday. Miss Olga Holmstrom took quite a tumble on the icy ground one day last week, laming her up some. Mrs. Ed. Reynolds has been having quite a painful finger, caused from a sliver or scratch, and infection set in and the fin ger had to be lanced. She spent several days last week at the Aldridge home in Clatskanie, where she could be close to the doctor's office for medical treat ment. Quite a crowd attended the dance at Natal grange hall Sat urday night. Music was furnished by the Berg-Sundland orchestra. Mrs. G. McClenon left for Colorado last week with her small daughter Dorothy to join her husband. Mrs. McClenon has been spending the past three months with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse George. F. Timber Camp Eight Those attending the New Year’s eve dance at Arcadia were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mackie, Mr. and Mrs. John Hatfield, Mrs. Norman Guinn, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pringle, Miss Evelyn Olson, and Chet Evereart. Everyone en joyed a good time. Mrs. Florence Olson has been seriously ill the past week but at last report was somewhat im proved. Miss Evelyn Olson of St. Hel ens has extended her visit due to the illness of Mrs. Olson. Mrs. Earl Pringle and Mrs. Charles Mackie were luncheon guests on Tuesday at the D. R.
