, flace y mir Ad Mét* . «IUIUNIÀ - VERNONIA EAGLE Issued Every Friday $2 per year in Advance Entered as Second Class Matter, August 4, 1922 at the Post Office at Vernonia, Oregon, under the Act of March 3, 1879 ■" ■ '■ '■ '■ —----------- — Paul Robinson, . Editor and Owner told to say : “Clean up your own dirty back yards.” But no, the Eagle editor is not so inclined. We prefere, with die most earnest motive, to say to our neighbors ami friends. “Come over and visit us.” You will find a mod em little city here, gentlemen; vastly improved and dif ferent from the little Vernonia of former months. You will find here, gentlemen, a city of nearly’ 3000 people, workers, nome owners, busy people. A city of th’» size, growing daily, has people in its midst that you or I prob ably would not care to associate with. It isn’t necessary that we do associate with them. No more of the undesir ables here than in other cities of this size, however. You will find here a clean-city in many respects. You will find here also bootleggers, p^issibly a few degenerates, loafers or would-be mashers, possibly some fallen women You have them in your towns also in accordance with your population. Vernonia would appreciate being one hun dred percent clean morally, but that is hardly to be ex pected. Many in Vernonia would appreciate having a city of one hundred per cent white Americans. But that is nardly to be expected. The good Vernonia citizens do! not uphold fights, drunks, or disorderly conduct. The people of Vernonia really wouid prefere all white men at ner big mill, but Vernonia isn’t operating that mill. Tak ing an average, Vernonia is doing very well, than): you. and we repeat, “Come over, Gentlemen,” and you will agree with us. You havn’t heard the S. O. S. from Ver 6 nonia yet, so please “Hold Your Horses.” -------- o-------- • WANTED—MORE PEOPLE Score one for the League of Nations. -------- o-------- Let Oregon continue to ’’Produce the Goods” and Florida can have the Real Estate Agents -------- o-------- Didn’t see a picture of any Vernonia notables standing in front of the electrical ‘‘Groo Home” in Portland. -------- o-------- There was so little to cause eye-strain in the old days that it is a wonder the occulists didn’t all starve to death. -------- o-------- Looks like they were going to get a tunnel some day, T HERE is something lacking, something unattended to,! under Council Crest into Portland.
