The W. C. T. U. held heir 43rd
annual convention at Hood River,
Oct. 20. 21, 22 and *23, with a lareg'
attendance of delegates about every
was represented. On Tuesday even
ing the Hoo'd River uni;on furnished
an elaborate banquet. There were
175 plates served. On Wednesday
the Hood River apple growers asso
ciation furnished the convention
attendants with several boxes of
Hood River apples, which was very
much appreciated. On Thursday the
good people* of that city furnished
cars and took the delegates out to
see the valley and orchards and fl
round by Billy Sunday’s farm home
which was a treat to most of us.
I.iany good speaofeers were listen
ed to. Gov. Pierce, the man who has
the work at heart, spoke Thursday
evening on the crime wave,disrespect
for the law and moving pictures, he
said, was the cause of so many
crimes. The moving pictures teach
them just how to cotpmit them, and
boose promotes them on. C. T. Webb
superintendent of the Children’s
Farm Home at Corvallis, gave an ad
dress and said that was one of the
greatest things the W. C. T. U. had
done in Oregon, by furnishing a
home for the homeless children over
the state. Daddy and mamma Webb
seem to have their whole heart and
life in their work of caring for the
many dependant children who seem
to be so happy in their new home

NOTICE
There are a number of young
folks in the habit of staying out
after the curfew has been sounded
and this practice ha* got to be stop
ped.
You have plenty if time to get to
th* 1st show at night and get home
a little after 9 o’clock as the law re
quires. .
In th* future thia law will be
strictly enforced and if you are out
after eurfew hours you must be ac
companied by your parents or
guardian, and a guardian don't
mean your beaux at that.
Remember this as there will be
no more telling you to get home.
W. J. KELLY, City Marshal.
