ADA ROACH TO
LECTURE HERE
With whom fighting men would gladly share tribute
on ¿Memorial ¿Day
When Ada Roach, nationally
known entertainer, appears on the
Chautauqua pdogram the afternoon
and evening of the third day, dull
care will be put to route with a dub
with the smiling Ada’s excess fund
of humor.
Miss Roach is not only a talented
artist, but just a natural bom
comedian brim full of jollity and
wholesome good nature that is in
fectious to the superlative degree.
She excels in her nationalistic charac
ter skits, and being Irish herself, can
handle the brogue of old Erin in
most realistic and inimitable style.
Her readings are also marked favor
ites of her program. In fact, every-
offering of this artist “goes over
big” and audiesces cannot get enough
of her.
The total absence of anything
bordering on buffonery in the humor
of Miss Roach makes her art em
phatically as of high standard. She
can keep her audiences is a perfect
uproar of mirth and laughter with
out a suggestion of ridicule or of ■
fense to the nationalities she imi ■
tates so perfectly. Events of the day ’
are adroitly woven into her charac -
ter sketches, which are always re
lished and appreciated. To off set :
the hilarity of her program, just a i
bit of the more serious is introduced I
aptly illustrating her versatility and I
nicely balanscing her productios
Miss Roach formerly appealed I
with a partner artist as the Roach- ■
Freeman Duo, and was universally ’
referred to by the press as “ a whole ■
show in herself.” That the pre«s is i
correct in its appraisal of her talent
will be aptly proves to Chautauqua
this season, as she has scored heavily
in the program to be presented here.

Flags are out, and bunting fresh and sweet
Decks every store and house upon the street.
It’s very verve, the red, the white, and blue,
Flaunt to the breeze their message, ever true,
That men have given all, in peace or strife
With but one thought, to save the Nation’s life.
These flags and flowers bespeak the real regard
In which a nation holds, as winning card,
Her patriots. They are the vital spark,
The clarion call, to which the worthy hark.
And so, today, as spring brings forth her flowers
And winter’s wastes become emeraldic bowers,
Those men who love their country most outpour
Their tribute, all unmeasured, at the door
Of those who gave their best—their very all
In a quick answer to their Country’s call.
