Of these crops, the first two have not been very successful owing to the lack of lime in the soil and to thr abundance of woeda. An attempt made to reorganize the Ncstucca Association for its second years work failed and the t proposed Nclmlo.m Association did not materialize. It is hoped that both these sections will organize next year, , The Jersey and llolstein breeders have been organized into breeders Clubs, tho object of which is to foster the interests of their breed in the community, The. Franchise Carries By a Majority Of 89 Votes People Endorse Standard Oil Franchise S. P. OFFICIALS HERE M. V. 0. L. Uurkehaltcr, Supt., and F. Scipcrt, Chief Engineer of the S, lines in Oregon, arrived here in private car yesterday. They came to look over the situation at liar View as pertains to the ml I road property which is said to be in danger of being washed out. A large crew of men Is now engaged in putting in piling and building a rock breakwater for the protection of the track. The hith tides of yesterday washed out the dance hell and all the rest of the buildings between the railroad and the sea at Bar View. About 300 yards of tho county road have been washed out. are some of the best breddairy bulls 111 the Northwest. Many talks have been ctven 011 tecdiug and personal aid to several farmers in figuring out balanced ra tions. In .several instances the rations figured out resulted in a saving from one S three cents per day per head over the rations which were being fed. D. Fruit Inspection: As fruit inspec tor, several shippers of diseased fruit have been warned to send no more such fruit to the county. One very badly diseased shipment of pears was destroyed and the shipper made to stand the loss. The result is a better grade of fruit shipped into the coun ty as the growers have found out that Tillamook is no longer a dumping ground for their culls. To summarize; cX5 farm visits have been made, 650 business letters writ ten, 531 office callers received, 687 telephone calls, Sj farmer's meetings addressed with a total attendance of .?,B(7, J schools addressed reaching about 700 pupils, 8 issues of the ex change sheet published besides many news paper articles, and n,35 t'l-'s traveled on official duties by team, auto and train. Sufficient acreage has been signed up, according to reports, to secure the building of a large beet sugar factory in Southern Oregon. On Monday the people of Tillamook endorsed the Standard Oil franchise by a vote of 207 and 118. The vote on candidate stood as follows: For Mayor, S. A. BrodheBd 301. For Treasurer. W. M. Harrison 306. For councilman First Ward, Dave O'Donnell 33, John Keldson 14. For councilman. 2nd Ward, Geo. Ed munds 17. For councilman 3rd Ward, R. T. Boals 4'J. For councilman 4th Ward, W. J. Hill 52. For councilman fith Ward, II. A. Williams 102. For water commissioner Cth Ward, Albert Plank 102. Tho name of Geo. Edmunds was written in on the ballots of the second ward voters he having declined the nomination. There were several other scattering votes cast for other candidates. COUNCIL IN SESSION The city council met in regular ses sion last evening. After allowing the usual bills other business was taken up. The city hall contractors were al lowed an extension of CO days in which to complete that structure. The con tract calls for the completion of the building by Dec. 15, allowance being made for rainy days and bad weather. The extension will give the contractors until Fnhranrv IB. j , An ordinance providing for the test ing of cows furnishing milk to the city was read for the first time before the council. This ordinance sets a penalty of from $10 to S30 for each violation. The matter of looking after the storm sewer on Stillwell Ave. and Fourth Street was considered. It seems that the storm sewer is plugged caus ing the street to be flooded with water. PARENT TEACHER'S ASSO CIATION WILL MEET FRIDAY The Parent-Teacher's Association will meet Friday, evening at 7:45 sharp. There will be a program, con sisting of numbers from several of the grades including the first, third, fifth and sixth. The fifth grade has worked up a very entertaining drama from the Bird's Christmas Carol by Kate Doug las Wiggin. Miss Sanders will give a paper on ManaworK in me rrimary Grades. Miss Mcown will describe the aims and methods of music in the pub lic schools and Supt. Onthank will re port on the results of various tests of Language and Arithmetic ability re cently made in the school. There will also bo a business meuting for the transaction of recular business.
