The Faculty was startled one morning, when they wore requested to leave tho Assembly room for a few minutes; thov may have feared mutiny or hookey ami they may not have, at any rate they acceded to the request and departed. Free frotn this dancer the business concerning the birthday arrangements was soon properly handled. That evening after schsI the students and most of tho teachers went quickly to thti oW s-choolhouse which contains the Dom estie Science Department, while Prof. Buchanan was cleverly detained at the buiklincr by English Grades or some other ingenious and mysterious devise. When everything was ir redines, the Professor in company with hi detainer sallied out to invade the sceno of ac tiim, then something not on the pro pram happened, the lolling of the okl school bell was heard, solemnly ami mournfully. Sixteen times it toiled tr.en there was silence. The mystery of the tolling bell still remains unex plained. I The baf ket ball fame of last Friday proved a victory for the Juniors and a defeat for the Seniors Tho- is the frst game the Seniors hae lost and in it t.'iey were beaten by a eore of nine t tif teen. It seemed to be an oil day lor them, si ice te forwards were un able to throw baskets ami Ebinger misted most of the fouls, a thing which , rever happened before.
