It certainly would be a grave mistake for the state legislature to provide nothing for extensions. No doubt, however, the legislature will be in- dined to economize and re trench, and there is no objec tion to this if retrenchment can be worked out in every department, but to our way of thinking it would be unwise not to provide sufficient money to carry out the State highway commission's road plan and complete the work os soon aspossible. In fact, it would be decidely unfair, for if it was good judgment and good business sense to complete the Columbia and Pacific highway . it is also good business judgment and good sense to com- plete the Roosevelt highway and other incomplete highways ln the state.
