My Dear Mr. Church: I am pleased to state that we have settlement on the Joseph Donaldson policy, and Mr. Hanawalt expects to leave on the morning present plans are to leave tomorrow morning. In any event he would not leave later than the following day. FOR THE BETTER FURNITURE Last Sunday was a beautiful day, and a party of Tillamook men com posed of P. W. Barrett, Tony Wern er, E. J. Claussen, Victor White and I. E. Keldson, lured by the fair weather, motored up to Necarney mountain and spent the day on that locally historic mountain. It is hinted that they did a little delving for the hidden treasure supposed to be buried there by the Spaniards, many misty years ago But they won’t say so. Away up on the mountain side, they followed the trail, and finally came to a place several hundred feet above the sea where they amused themselves by throwing stones down the declivity. There had been some blasting re cently, close to wfcere they stood, and finally they moved up the trail about twenty feet, still engaged in the sport of watching the dizzy flight of the boulders which they liberated from time to time. Sud denly, and without warning, the very spot on which they had pre viously stood, was covered with a great mass of fallen earth, boulders and other debris. Thousands of tons must have fallen, as the trail was obliterated, and their former resting place covered many feet deep with the fallen earth. Mr. Keldson, was hardly 20 away, when the slide occurred, the whole party lost no time in ting out of the danger zone. Bar rett had not ascended the trail with the party, but Claussen, who figured with Barrett in an automobile ac cident out south of town about 10 days ago, was near by, and by this second most miraculous escape, is now convinced that there is a good sized jinx on trail, as this is the second episode of similar nature ex perienced within the past two weeks. All jokes aside, had the party not moved just when they did last Sunday, it is safe to assume that some one or more of the party would have been overwhelmed by the slide, with what result, it is hard to conjecture. The party , had not moved from the point where the slide occurred more than five min utes before the thing happened, wfuch escape brings to mind the old adage: “All’s well that ends well.” AT Total $3060.17 You see we pay the entire dividend accumulations, plus in terest, and in addition pay the dividend that would have been due the stage for your place.
