mans and W. E. Thomas is a suit fil­
ed in the Circuit Court to recover
$2500.00. It is alleged in the complaint
that defendant and plaintiffs owned
certain spruce timber, and that in
January 1918, the defendants wrong­
fully and unlawfully entered upon the
land and began cutting and removing
the timber, having removed approx­
imately 100,000 feet valued at $2,000.
Dr. J. E. Reedy, who volunteered a
few months ago in the Vet(*rinary Re-
serve Corps, and was commissioned
a first Lieutenant, has been called to
active service. He will receive advice
as to where he is to proceed as soon
as instructions are received from
Washington D. C., which is expected
this week. Mrs. Reedy will go to
California, and they have rented their
home to Mrs. Jack Olson.
A bad accident occurred this morn­
ing when Sheriff Campbell’s auto
driven by Dr. Reedy crashed into the
approach on Tillamook bridge and
capsized off the bridge. The others in
the ar were Floyd Wilson, Jim Wil­
son and Fred McKinley. The auto fell
on top of the occupants into the mud
and it was fortunate that it was low
tide, otherwise« they would have
drowned. Dr. Reedy, J. Wilson and
McKinley are badly bruised up and
hail to be taken to the hospital.
Captain Louis O. Henderson, son of
Attorney J. L. Henderson, sailed for
France about the ¡st or 2nd of the
month, and it was thought he might
have been 011 board the Tuscania

hardly be the. case, as there was not
sufficient time for him to have reach­
ed the other side. Captain Henderson
is well known among Oregon Univer­

gon, has been notified by the Treas­
ury Department at Washington, D. C.

tended to April 1, ¡9'8. thus giving
an additional month to that provided
by the War Tax Act of October 3,
1917, As soon as the blanks are re­
ceived each corporation will be noti­
fied. Collector Miller would appre­
ciate the early filing of returns, so
that the work of his office may not be
unduly congested.

school students, the second of grade
school pupils aged it or more and the
third of grade school pupils aged to
or less. Miss Clark was the winner in
the first class, Irma Coulter in the
second and Dorothy Christian in the
third. Miss Kathlyn Kirk, of Tilla­
mook, received honorable mention.
