periment, which, if implicitly
complied with, should put a
stop to a number of the abuses
which crept in when the de­
partment system was allowed
to creep in for no other purpose
than Sunday trading and card
playing. This caused jealousy
ami dissension even amongst
the saloon keepers.
We hope
that the agreement will have a
good effect, as we believe it will,
in helpingto solve the difficulty
in making saloon keepers com­
ply with the law, and those who
will not do so, the other saloon
keepers should assist in having
the license revoked. It was the
will of the people that this
county have saloons, atid it is
the desire of the people that the
saloon keepers comply with the
law. Had this been done in the
past there would not nearly be
the prejudice against saloons
as there is toilay.
