Tillamook Hose Company Meets in Business Session The Tillamook Hose Co. held their regular monthly business meeting at the Commercial Club rooms Thursday night Several new names for membership were hand ed in and with those who are expect ing to join the Company there will be a sufficient number of men to properly man their appratus. I It was decided to drop members hereafter who* fail to report for three consecutive meetings without excuse in order that the trouble of collecting fines and of having these members on the roll will be done away with. By doing thia the busi- ■ ness men who do not care todo act ive work with the Company and who are members will feel more like giving, when money is needed, than by having to pay fine money. The matter was brought up re garding the purchasing of uniforms but upon receipt of prices the mat ter was laid over for future action. A committee*was appointed to in vestigate the matter of having night headquarters for two or three fire men in the city hall. Special meetings were held Fri day and Saturday evenings but no special business was finished. Tillamook Boys Off on Hike Twenty-three young men, mem bers of the Loyal Sons Class of the Church of Christ, left on Monday morning at 8:30 for a hike through the valley. Rev. R. K. Jope, the pastor of the Church and teacher of the class is at the head of the party. While out the boys will spend a couple days at the Turner Conven tion. The hikers were taken as far as Three Rivers in autos and from there they started on their long walk. It was th» intention to reach Willamina Tuea lay afternoon and play a game of ball that evening. At Sheridan they will play the High* School Wednesday afternoon. In the afternoon of the same day they will .be given a reception by the young men of the Christian Church at that place. From Sheridan the boys go to Salem where they will play the Loyal Sons oi that place. The 'people of Salem have promised them a good time while in their midst. Mr. Jope expects to return with his hikers in about ten days. Those who are taking the trip are: Benley Starn, Arthur Wallace, Gor don Bare, Floyd Eberman, Bruce Hare, John Ebinger, Harvey Ebin- ger. Harold Jope, Bruce Wade, Guy Marble, Thane Honey, Thomas Coates, Howard Lamar, Shirley Potter, William Anderaon, Clent King, J Ate Doty, Gail Buel, Verle Stanley, Donald Newman, Leslie Harrison and R. E. Jope. Lacas--Johnson. On Wednesday June 12 at 6 p.m. at the home of the bride's parent«, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, in the pre sence of the immediate family and a few friends, Mr. Leslie B. Lucas and Miss Berenice C. Johnson were united in wedlock. The bride was prettily attired in a gown of white silk and was escort ed by Miss Marion Hare as bride’s- maid. The groom was attended by Mr. Bruce Ifare as groomsman. The impressive ring ceremony was used and the happy couple was pronounced husband and wife by R. E. Jope. pastor of the Church of Christ The coremony was follow ed by a wedding supper after which the bride and groom departed with the best wishes ot all present. Mr. and Mrs. Lucas will retnsin I as residents of Tillamook. Both are well known and popular and carry with them the best wishes of I * host of friends. Banking service is not an expensive luxury. SUPERVISION I ■ BAYOCEAN WILL OPEN SATURDAY Large Crowds Expected at Tillaniook’s Famous Resort Suturday night the popular beach resort, Ttayocean, will be formal opened for the summer trade. During the entire evening dinner will be served at the Hotel Bay ocean. Mr. Lee, of the Bayocean Com mercial Club, said. Monday, that everything would be in condition to entertain an immense crowd on that day. A dance will be given in the evening at the pavilion. For thia a three piece stringed orches tra, consisting of the beat talent in the state and lead by the famous Arthur Von Jessen, has been se cured. A great deal of work has been done in Bayocean thia spring and at present the streets are paved throughout the business section up to Hotel Bayocean Annex. The launch Henrietta will take excursionists from this city to Bay ocean Saturday evening. LA GRANDE ADOPTS . GRAVEL BITULITHIC Warren Company Gets Con tract. To the surprise of many the Home Paving Company withdrew its bids at the council session this morning on First Street, Main and Washington Avenues, says the La Gninde Observer. Mr. Bramwell and Mr. Roesch of the Home Com pany appeared in person stating that they had found sentiment against delay in the work and there fore withdrew their bids, tint asked to tie considered in future work. The council immediately let the pav ing contracts for the three streets to the Warren Construction Com pany for Bitulithic pavement. The committee appointed to se cure data relative to the merits of the paving in use in other cities huge found that Bitulithic is mak ing a remarkable record for wear under the moat severe teste as to traffic and climatic conditions, and is giving satisfaction, wherever (used. ........ ........ • drive into left, taking third on an error by Peterson in picking up McHail's grounder and scoring on and umpire decision. In the ninth Millie doubled to center, after Spike and Buster hail struck out, and scored on a double bv Rhodes. However, Gus Peterson failed to Connect with the ball anil the game ended. Much credit is due to Millie, the pitcher for the home team, who heaved gilt edged ball throughout the game. Only three hits are registered againat him, while he has J thirteen strike outs to his credit six of them in succession. He also did good work with the stick, securing two"hits out of four times up. Tillamook received seven lilts from Scott, the Weona pitcher. The batteries were for the Weonns, Scott and Wentworth for Tillamook, Millie anil Armbuster. RESOLUTIONS OF CONDO LENCE.
