The debate between the McMinn­
ville and Tillamook High Schools,
which was to have taken place last
Friday, was postponed until this
(Thursday) evening owing to the
delay in the train service. The de­
bate will be in the Presbyterian
church.
Sheriff Crenshaw and wife return­
ed from Portland on Tuesday. They
caine near loosing their things in
a fire in the Merchants building in
that city, but the sheriff managed
to get into the burning building
and to the room, which was full of
smoke, and succeeded in saving
his belongings.
Earl King was fined $5 for firing
off.a gun within the city limits. The
complaint was made by Owen Hoye,
whose cat had been killed. King
then swore out a ¡complaint against
Hoye for discharging fire arms last
summer. As he admitted doing so
by accident, Recorder Handley
fined him $5. but remitted the same.

short a turn and drove off the road,

suddenly dumped in a nasty place
between the road and the sidewalk
where the culvert goes under the
road. The horse extricated itself
minus the harness, and beyond a
few bruises and a good shaking up
the men escaped without serious
injury, while the buggy was not
much the worse for the mix up.
