Harter has returned to the citv from a trip to the Portland and the Willamette vnlley and reports that a great number of persons are pouring in to the Stnte from the East and Middle West and that business is brisk and thnt farm property is changing hands quite briskly at enhanced values. W. II, Harris has made arrangements with A. M. Myers and E. Anderson to run a daily stage between Sheridan and Tillamook City, leaving here at six o'clock in the morning,reaching Sheriden the same evening, and the fare will be $5 50. The stage will be put on between the 1st and 10th of next month. The building of the new saw mill in this city demonstrates that for saw mill sites,with Hoquarton slough straighten ed out and with a railroad spur running along the water fro it, this can lie made an ideal location for large saw mills, far better than on the bay where the busy toredo carries on its destructive work. Tillamook County Bank. • William McKay, a shipbuilder, ol Ban don, Ore , has secured the contract to build a gasoline boat to plv among Ore. gon ports, such as Tillamook, Coos Hay and Bandon. The new boat will lie 95 feet over all and have a 24-fooc beam. It will be equipped with two 100-horse power engines and will have a large carrying capacity. Work was commenced on Wednesday on the new two story conceete building, which is the beginning of more modern, commodious buildings being erected in Tillamook City, and which will afford better fire protection. The building will be a great improvement to the city, and the change from frame to concrete build ings makes the outlook bright for the city to be built up with more substan tial structures. The new saw mill of tj>e Tillamook Lumber Manufacturing Company will be completed by the first of next month, and it will be one of the best constructed saw mills of its size, with all new ma chinery; in Oregon. Dawson and Williatu Hartsell were excused from jury duty, as they were out of the county. The judge ordered a grand jury drawn with the following persons chosen: Clarence Tilden. Frank Hobson, A. A. Imlah D. Fitxp itrick, W. A. Elliott. N. G. Boquist and I). T. Werschkul. After charging the grand jury the judge appointed D. Fitzpatrick foreman. The first indictment returned by the grand jury was that against Adolf N. Nordstrom charged with the murder of John Peterson, The court appointed T. H. Goyne attorney for the prisoner. When Nordstrom was arranged on Tuesday he refused to plead and the court entered a plea of not guilty and set the case for trial on Friday morning at nine o'clock. In the case of W. Langwortl.y, a local option case appealed from the justice court, the defendant wns tried and found guilty. Thejudge fined him $100 and 15 days in jail which was remitted on good behavior. This was simply a formal trial as the case is to be nppeuled and taken to the Supreme court as to weth er the local option law is constitutional. Vincentz Jacob was another local op tion case appealed from the justice court and was tried on its me,its Jacob had two trials in the justice court, the first jury fnilingto agreeand the next brought in a verdict of guilty. This being ap. pealed, the case was tried on Tuesday and the next day when the case went to the jury it brought in a verdict of guilty. Later in the day an application for a new trial was made, which will be argu ed on Monday. The grand jury brought in "No bills" against Sam Tomlinson, Roy Ogden and Clarence Atterbury. Indictments having been returned against Velcho Lrleff Iran Nrdnuoff. Tom Schulfur and John Ramino, they plead ed guilty, who were charged with crime of endeavoring by force threats to prevent certain persons working on the railroad, causing Thejudge dealt leniently with them be cause they were foreigners and did not realize the nature of the crime they were committing, indicting a fine of $50 upon Schulfur and $65 eaclijupon the others.
