Another of His False Statements Branded a Lie. To the fair minded people of Tilla mook, who believe in honesty in politics, as in business, this circular is addressed. The methods which have been pursued during this campaign by those opposing the election of Senator 0. W. Fulton are far from being honest or fair. F. J. Heney, who has gained cheap noterity in the prosecution of certain per sons for participating in land frauds, and for SENATOR FULTON which he received over $40,000, and the Tell the Facts about the government has not been benefited one cent, Powell Affidavit. is leaving no stone unturned for the defeat of Fulton. The attacks of Heney upon Fulton at Portland and Salem last week were as cowardly and malicious as could be possible. The offering of an unsigned lettter in such a manner as to leave the impression that Fulton offered J. J. Howser $3,500 to vote for Mitchell was malicious in the extreme, and the subjoined affidavit of Ilowser is sufficient to brand the attack as unworthy of an honest and fair minded person. Vote for H. M. Cake, for U.S. Senator. Ike Hiner is a candidate for Justice of the Peace for the Third Justice Dis trict. Write this on the ballot: “A Ike Hiner. ” State of Oregon, ) „ ~ County of Tillamook. [ I, J. J. Howser, being first duly sworn, according to law, depose and say, that I was a member of the House during the 1897 session of the Legislature, being chosen from Jackson County ; that C. W. Fulton never conferred with me at any time during the Legislature session, either in the interest of J. H. Mitchell’s candidacy or in regard to the organization of the Legis lature ; that so far as I kuow C. W. Fulton knew nothing about my receiving or returning the 43500.00 mentioned by Heney in his recent Portland speech ; that I state on oath that F. J. Heney is a dam liar, or anyone else who says that 1 had any dealings or transactions with Mr, Fulton directly or indirectly in regard to the election of a Senator, or the organization of the legislature. I had no conversation whatever with Mr. Fulton concerning Mr. Mitchell’s election, or anything appertaining of Mr. Mitchell’s interest ; that Mr. Mitchell in pe son offered ine $3500 upon con dition that I vote for him for Senator, and that I refused the same, telling him that I could not accept money for support, and that I deemed it my duty as a representative of the people and for the best interest of the state to vote for the caucus nominee, who would have been Mr. Mitchell; but the damned rotten politicians and office seekers who congregated at Salem during the session, prevented the House from organising, and consequently no senator was elected, although I took the oath of office and responded to roll call to my name for forty days or more. (Signed), J- J. HOWSER. Sworn to and subscribed before G. B. LAMB, County Clerk. The statement has been spread broad cast that Fulton is an attorney and friend of Elmore’s. Nothing could be further from the truth, for the reason that they are per sonal enemies and have been for years. The recognition Fulton has gained from the leading men of this nation; his untiring labors in behalf of this state, and the ability he has shown in the discussion of the im portant questions before the people should be an incentive for the republicans of this First Bank & Trust state to make his election all but unanimous. He has ben endorsed for his honesty, Company, BAY CITY, ORE. ability and integrity by such men as U. S. Senators Borah, Nelson, Lodge, Knox, Fair banks, and in fact all of his colleagues in the Senate. Vote for Charley Fulton, the People9s Friend.
