Dwight and Thomas Coates brings suit against the Tillamook Lumbering Company, and the plaintiffs claim damages to th? amount of $4916. 21. claiming that the defendant will- fully, intentionally and wrongfully cut down and hauled off ar.d carried a wav timber and did damages to y oung trees and certain lands while logging on the Rupp place. A remarkable thing about this suit is that neither Dwight nor Coates have signed their names and sworn to the allegations in the com plaint as filed by the attorneys for the plaintiffs. L S. Hopficld had a “ride for life’’ com ing over the mountains to North Yam hill from Tillamook. The road was very slippery from the down-pouring rain, and just after they started down the mountain the brake broke and there was nothing left for the driver but to keep the horses in the road and out of the way ot the stage.
