The animal threw its- self and broke the shaves all up, and it was only by the prompt assistance of several men that prevented a run away. The men who work on the telephone wires ought to use proper precaution to prevent a repetition of this so as to pre. vent a much more serious accident and suit for damages. Wm Dunsm*»or a grocery man located at the town of Roy, a station on the new Lytle railroad, seven miles out of Hills- boro, is prospecting in Tillamook in re gard to the 1 »cation of a grocery store here. While here he is the guest of Geo. F. Zimmerman, who knew him when Mr. Zimmerman whs pastor of the Christian Church, at Foraat (J rove, Mr. Dunsmoor being a member of that con« gregation. Mr. Dunsmoor thinks the opportunity in Tillamook county to b» brighter than in any other part of Ore gon at present. Another surveying party of the Paci fic Railway & Navigation Compuny has put in an appearance in the vicinity of Vernonia, Columbia county, where a line has been run from a point about two miles west of Buxton. That por tion of the road is to be completed and in operation by January 1, 1908, and it is proposed to push it on to Jewell, in Clatsop county, and thence to Astoiin, along the Lewes and Clark river. The line from Vernonia to the main roa 1 beyond Buxton has been located, and the property owners of Vernonia hnve provided a right of wav so construction will be begun in the spring. Work on both the Buxton and Tillamook ends is progressing, and strveyors arc finishing their labors north oi Tillamook, on the coast.—Hillsboro Independent. church, will lecture at the Methodist church on Monday evening, Dec. 17, nt 8 o’clock.
