Victor Glad, the little son of Mr. E. Glad, who lives on the Wilson river near the new cheese factory, had a narrow es- cape from drowning, and it was only the grit and promptness of his mother which saved the boy’s life. The little fellow had the misfortune to fall down the well, which contained about nine feet of water. In falling the boy had taken with him the board which covered the wt’.’, vfrz. Glad, upon finding what had happened, ad vised the boy to cling to the board until she could secure a rope, which she pro ceeded to do, but fearing that the boy might drown before she returned. Mrs. Glad went into the well herself climbing down a pipe. With some assistance the boy was lifted out of the well, a rope being tied round him, but they could not get Mrs. Glad out. Some children had notified Mr. P. McIntosh at the creamery what had happened, who, with the as sistance of Walter Baker, hustled up a ladder and rescued Mrs. Glad from her uncomfortable position in the well.
