PRODUCTIVENESS The soil of Tillamook is unequalled for rich ness ami depth. The prairies are of compara tively small area, but are excellent for grass, The richbottcm lands are however far richer and will produce any kind of crop desired, but i re especially adapted to root crops. Potatoes beets, carrots, etc yield enormous crops, while oats, clover, timothy ami all kinds of grasses produce astonishing results. Wheat aud corn can t>e grown profitably, but the land is far more valuable for other purposes. The whole country is abundantly watered by rains aud clear, never ailing mountain streams, and ar tificial irrigation is unnecessary and unknown. HKALTFULNESS. Owing to the above named conditions Tilla mook County is one of the most healthful places on earth. Malaria is unknown and Dip- tlieria, Typhoid fever and kindred diseases never occur where even the most ordinary care is taken to establish good sewage. Pneumonia : exceedingly rare and consumption, except in some cases that are brought here, is almost un known. RESOURCES. For this industry Tillamook County is doubt less tile best section of country in the United States. Wherever the land is cleared It is at once covered with luxuriant natural grasses that are literally green and nutritious the year round, and cuttle require comparatively but little feed in winter, there being no snow and the grass continuing its growth. Owing to the excellenceof the feed and the skill employed by our dairymen, Tillamook blitter Ims become fameus nil over the coast and demands the highest price in the markets. It is estimated that the dairy product of this county amounted last year to 1000 tons, valued at $500,00•.
