Smith was recommended to the Senatorial convention as a candi date for Joint Senator for Washington, Columbia and Tillamook counties. W. L. Brooks was recommended as Joint Representative for Tillamook and Yamhill comities. T. B. Handley, L. P. Smith and W L. Brooks were selected as delegates to the Slate ami Congressional conventions. T. B. Handley was chairman of the convention, A. Arstill secretary, and \V. L. Brooks assistant secretary. The convention was called to order about 10 o’clock in the forenoon of Sat urday, ami after temporary organization and appointment of committees adjourn ed until after noon. About 1 :30 busi ness began and proceeded until 6o’clock in the evening There were a few well defined contests for some of the nomi- natioiiH, but the convention was har monious as a whole, and all seem well pleased with the ticket named. It is thought the republicans will unite on supporting the ticket from Joint Senator to the constables, and that peace and harmony will prevail in the ranks for i once. THE TICKET.
