In nearly every mail we receive
letters from distant parts of the
country asking for information
regarding the resources and pros
pects of this county. Many of
these letters are from men who
would make very desirable settlers
and it will be evident to anyone
who gives the matter any thought,
that such letters should be answer
ed by someone who is in a position
to do so w ith a thorough under
standing of the country and also
of the obstacles which all new set
tlers have to contend with. This
duty properly belongs to the Board
of Trade, if that organization is
still in existence, though for some
time past it seems to have devolved
upon the editor of the H eadlight .
While it is a pleasure to us to fur

and to make the information reli
able, yet it would be much better
if the Board of Trade w ere re-or
ganized ami the information gath
ered and disseminated in a system
