Killed L afayette , Ind., May 7.—One of the most horrible wrecks} in the history of railroading occurred on the Big Four road in this city at 1-.15 this morning, as the result of which 10 men are liow dead and many more are injured. The train was the eastbound passenger leav ing Chicago at 9 1‘. M. The accident was caused by the failure of theair-brnkes to work. The engineer's desperate efforts to stop the train were shown by the large amount of sand thrown by him on the bridge through which the train came just Itefore the fatal crash. Moving. It ia the moving time of the year, Not only are our emotions moved unseemly, but our bodies and all our lielougings are changed to uncomfortable, unfamil iar places. Altout thia time respectable heads of families 'consult anxiously. There is an ominous feeling of impend ing doom in the air. Madame goes house hunting after the consultation. She cornea home tired ont, taking refuge in tea, not to say tears. Day after day it goes on till at last the house is chosen. If we could afford to go out and set fire to all onr household goods and burn them up, buy new ones and start all over again as when we first went to housekeeping, what u relief it would lie! But we cannot afford that. We are not rich, most of us. We must '-move" the things. If we have been housekeeping several years, we have a varied assort ment of rusty old trunks with the hinge« broken off, ancient overcoats that we have carted around with us through three moves, old liedsteuds and wash stands and half worn shia-s enough to stock a secondhand store. We have al ways moved them. We have never needed them. We vow not to take them with us this year, and we throw part of the rubbish tiwtiy. Two Ballston citizens have made a novel swear-off.
