Saturday hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. packed with handmade and homemade goodies and gifts, so don’t miss this chance to get a big headstart on your Christ- mas shopping. Harlem Crowns play against the Vernonia Scepters this Saturday The Harlem Crowns are bringing their showmanship and basketball skills to Vernon- ia for one game, on Saturday, December 8. The doors open at 6:15 p.m. in the Vernonia High School gymnasium. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. The Crowns will be playing against the Vernonia Scepters, a team made up of Vernonia community members. The Crowns are considered “Comedy in Motion” so this will be an evening of entertain- ment. Tickets are $9.00 advance, or $10.00 at the door. This is a Class of 2014 prom fundraiser. The dinner will include turkey, dressing, ham, cranberries, mashed po- tatoes and gravy, vegetable, bread, dessert and beverage. Dinners to go are also avail- able. The dinner, provided by The James Gang, will be held on December 25, at the Vernonia Senior Center, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. No gratuities or do- nations are required. Join in this celebration of the Spirit of Giving. There will be a Christmas Eve Candle Light Service, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Ver- nonia Community Church, 957 State Ave. Vernonia RFPD seeks volunteer PIO The Vernonia Rural Fire Protection District (VRFPD) is seeking a volunteer to act as a Public Information Officer (PIO). VRFPD is primarily a volun- teer organization. THE PIO will serve as a liaison between VRFPD and the media, will write news releases, plan news conferences and respond to in- quiries from the media. The PIO will also maintain an archive of news clippings about VRFPD and respond to open records requests. The PIO will have other duties, such as keeping the website and Face- book pages updated, handling newsletters, brochures, and posters. The PIO will need to be able to commit 5-10 hours per week to the position and must have a valid ODL and reliable trans- portation.
