The INDEPENDENT, September 21, 2011 Page 21 Obituary WILBUR KEITH ATCHLEY Wilbur Keith Atchley, 63, Vernonia, died August 20, 2011. A memorial service was held August 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Atchley was born Sep- tember 19, 1947, in St. Antho- ny, Idaho. His parents were Wilbur Atchley and Carol Steck. He served in the U. S. Navy. In 1972, he married Gloria Conger. They made their home in Utah, Washington, Portland, then Vernonia. They owned and operated the Spartree Restaurant for about 19 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a brother, Bill. Survivors include his six children, Paul Bumgarner, Kammy Johnson, Shauna Rau, Dawn Williams, George Es- pinoza, and Maria Espinoza; a brother, Ron; a sister, Cynthia; 26 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Remembrances are sug- gested to the American Cancer Society. SCOTT MICHAEL BASKA Scott Michael Baska, 35, Vernonia, died September 20, 2011. Funeral services are pend- ing. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Fu- neral Home will release a com- plete obituary for the next is- sue. ROSEMARIE BIANCONE Rosemarie Biancone, 85, Vernonia, died September 6, 2011. Mrs. Biancone was born July 11, 1926, in Mount Ster- ling, Kentucky, to Walter and Mary (Curtis) Frisby. She was raised in Kentucky. In 1960, she married Donald A. Biancone. They made their home in Rhode Island, Virginia, Florida, California, Washing- ton, Hawaii, and Illinois, before moving to Portland in 1976. They moved to Vernonia in 2001. She was a childcare provider for over 40 years. She enjoyed Bingo, reading, fishing, and bowling. Verboort and graduated from Glencoe High School in 1985. In 1991, he married Julie Scherr. They made their home in Washington County and later divorced. He was a general contractor and built homes. He enjoyed the outdoors, trail riding on his motorcycle, hunting, a good practical joke, and was a good storyteller. moved to Banks when she was a young child. In 1964, she married Ralph Harry Craft. They made their home in Portland before mov- ing to Banks in 1966. She worked as a bus driver for Shafer Bus Service, then later as a bartender at the Brown Derby Restaurant, as well as for her father, the owner of Banks Billiards and Tavern. She enjoyed cooking, gar- dening, playing cards, collect- ing cookbooks, and spending time at their beach home in Ne- halem. ERIC EUGENE BRAUKMAN Eric Eugene Braukman, 44, Banks, died September 8, 2011. Private graveside servic- es were held September 13 at Verboort Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Braukman was born May 8, 1967, in Hillsboro, to Eugene “Gene” and Nancy (Verboort) Braukman. SUE ANN CRAFT Sue Ann Craft, 76, Banks, died September 11, 2011. A celebration of life service was held September 17 at the American Legion Hall in Banks. Mrs. Craft was born October 12, 1934, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, to Elmer and Estelle (Evans) Madearis. The family Sue Ann Craft Survivors include her hus- band; two sons, Byron Prickett of Vancouver, Washington, and John Craft of Lafayette; three daughters, Debra Mott, Susie Dunthorp, and Carrie Wise, all of Banks; two sisters, Karen Durall of Banks, and Peggy Crowdey of Brownsville; 14 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Remembrances are sug- gested to the Banks Fire Dis- trict, the Make-A-Wish Founda- tion, or the American Cancer Society. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove was in charge of arrangements. HAUTON B. LEE, JR. Hauton Bransford “H.B.” Lee, Jr., 91, Portland, died Au- gust 4, 2011. A memorial serv- ice was held August 20 at Mt. Scott Church of God in Port- land. Mr. Lee was born December 14, 1919, near Frederick, Okla- homa, to Floise and Hauton B. Lee, Sr. He spent most of his childhood in Sandy, attending Sandy High School before dropping out during the Great Depression to help his father dig maple burls. He married Orla Eva Hob- son. After his marriage, he fin- ished getting his high school diploma and later earned a Ministerial diploma, a Bachelor of Theology degree, a Master of Education degree, and final- ly a Doctorate of Education de- gree. He worked as a pastor and teacher and owned and operated a watch repair busi- ness. In the 1950s, he taught at Washington Grade School in Vernonia and was appointed as a teaching principal. He was eventually a School Superin- tendent at Reynolds for 18 years, before retiring. H.B. Lee Middle School was named in his honor. He was preceded in death by his wife, and three siblings. Survivors include a son, Le- land; a daughter, Janet Hargis; two brothers, William “Bill” and Robert D.W. “Dan” Lee; six grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Remembrances are sug- gested to the H.B. Lee Memor- ial Fund at Mt. Scott Church of God or to Warner Pacific Col- lege.
