If they claim to be from a specific entity, contact them us- ing a trusted method and find out if there is a real issue. Don’t download attachments or trust e-mail links. • Don’t agree to purchase over the phone: Ask for infor- mation in writing. Read the de- tails and research the offer. If you still want to purchase, cred- it cards tend to have more pro- tections than debit cards. • Report fraudulent activity: Complaints can be filed with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov. Internet and e- mail scams can be reported to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov. Com- plaints about a specific busi- ness can be filed at www.bbb.org. Victims of the Microsoft phishing scam should contact trusted tech support to ensure their computer is protected. Make sure system updates, virus and spyware protection are current. Contact financial institutions and notify them of the possible identity theft to change account numbers and passwords. Monitor accounts for unexplained charges. Duyck & VanDeHey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Obituary WILLIAM DUANE BOWDEN William Duane Bowden, 75, Forest Grove, died January 28, 2011. A memorial service was held January 31 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Forest Grove. Dedica- tion services took place at the Buxton Cemetery. Mr. Bowden was born April 24, 1935, in Pablo, Montana, to William Chauncey and Alice (Long) Bowden. He lived in Montana, then Utah, before the family moved to Tophill in 1942. He graduated from Banks High School. He worked at the Ore- gon-American Mill in Vernonia, for Smithwick Rock, and Birds- eye in Hillsboro. He then spent 15 years building homes. In 1991, he married Carol Gibson. They made their home in Forest Grove. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, photogra- phy, genealogy and oil painting. He was preceded in death by his brother, George. Survivors include his wife, three sons, Roy of Aloha, Richard of Banks, and Donald of Cornelius; one daughter, Lisa Holcomb of Gaston; his mother; two brothers, Chauncey Bow- den and Lee Carlson; three sis- ters, Willina Bowden, Rita An- derson, and Ida Petersen; 13 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. A celebration of life serv- ice will be held at a later date. Mrs. Fletcher was born Octo- ber 19, 1931, in Hagerstown, Indiana. She worked for Tek- tronix in Beaverton for 25 years, then spent the next 20 years as a volunteer. She enjoyed traveling, inter- national pen pals, and art. She was preceded in death by her brother. Survivors include four sons, Michael Fletcher of Hermiston, Clifford Fletcher of Yamhill, Kevin Fletcher of Port Orchard, Washington, and Dallas Wade Fletcher of Buxton; a sister, Kathryn Trigg of Phoenix, Ari- zona; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. NORDHOLM Donald Allan Nordholm, 71, Forest Grove, died January 26, 2011. A celebration of life serv- ice will be held Saturday, Febru- ary 5, at 3:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Forest DAVID THOMAS SWAJA Donald A. Nordholm Grove. Mr. Nordholm was born May 13, 1939, in Fergus Falls, Min- nesota, to Paul K. and Anna M. (Halvorson) Nordholm. The family moved to the Banks area when he was two years of age. He graduated from Banks High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army. In 1959, he married Jean Marie Lyda. They made their home in the Kansas City area. He worked for Kaiser Gypsum in St. Helens before he began faming with his father-in-law in 1965. One of the founders of the Banks Community Auction, he enjoyed farming, morning cof- fee with friends, trips to Reno, camping, boating, and growing strawberries. He was preceded in death by his wife; and a sister, JoAnn M. Nordholm. Survivors include his son, David Thomas Swaja, 73, Banks, died January 27, 2011. A Funeral Mass was held Feb- ruary 1 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Banks. Mr. Swaja was born Septem- ber 2, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ruth and Thomas Swaja. When he was 10 years of age, the family moved to Portland. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1955.
