The INDEPENDENT, May 21, 2009 Page 21 Obituary LORNA ELIZABETH CLINTON Lorna Elizabeth Clinton, 87, Forest Grove, died May 4, 2009. A service was held May 8, followed by private interment at Hillside Cemetery in Forest Grove. Mrs. Clinton was born Novem- ber 19, 1921, at the family home on top of Clapshaw Hill, to John Harrison and Sarah Grace (Clap- shaw) Beaman. She grew up in the same area, and attended Forest Grove High School. In 1942, she married Milton James Clinton. They made their home in the Forest Grove area be- fore moving to Tillamook in 1953. In 1968, they returned to Forest Grove. She kept the books for her husband’s logging business. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Bobby. Survivors include three chil- dren; George Clinton of Kent, Washington, Jayne Peterson of Banks, and Tracy Clinton of Forest Grove; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numer- ous other family members. Remembrances are suggested to Transitions Palliative Care in Hillsboro. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home was in charge of arrange- ments. KASSANDRA S. DICKSON Kassandra Samantha Dickson, 36, Banks, died May 2, 2009. Ser- vices have been held. Ms. Dickson was born Novem- ber 13, 1972, in Hillsboro, to Ken- neth and Susan Lynn (Freeman) Dickson. She was raised in Hills- boro. She worked as a caregiver for Homeward Bound caring for traumatic brain injury patients. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include two sons, Cory Lee Dickson and Randy Allen Gorgas, both of Hillsboro; her step- mother, Esther A. Dickson of Hills- boro; a brother, Forrest R. Dickson of Banks; three sisters, Mysti Jones of Hillsboro, Michelle Con- klin of Tigard and Sandra L. Dick- son of Beaverton; nieces and nephews. Remembrances are suggested to the Kassandra S. BETTY JO MEAD Betty Jo Mead, 80, Banks, died April 25, 2009. Services have been held. Mrs. Mead was born September 7, 1928, in Arco, Idaho, to William and Lena (Wight) Fuzzell. Her fam- ily moved around a lot during the depression years. She stayed with different relatives in Arkansas and Missouri for periods of time. The family moved to Manning when she was in grade school. She at- tended high school in Newberg. In 1946, she married David Mead. She worked on the Wash- ington County election board. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include two sons, Robert and Kenneth; one brother; four grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; nieces and neph- ews. Remembrances are suggested to any Hospice organization or Ma- sonic charity. SANDRA LYNN MEYER Sarah Potter. She was raised in Vernonia and graduated from Ver- nonia High School in 1970. She married Paul Meyer. They made their home in Cornelius be- fore returning to Vernonia in 2004. After the flood of ‘07, they moved to Terrebonne. She was preceded in death by her father, her uncle Dee Miller and family friend, “Skip”. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cindy Dupree of Ver- nonia; her mother of Vernonia; three brothers, Steven Potter and Samuel Potter, both of Vernonia, and Stuart Potter of Clatskanie; a sister, Shirley Vermeire of Oregon City; her aunt and uncle, Sadie and Jim Gipson of Seaside; two grand- children; one great-grandchild; close friends, Eric and Tina English of Forest Grove; nieces and nephews. Thanks are given to her sup- portive family, emergency services in Terrebonne, doctors and staff at St. Charles Hospital in Redmond, especially Nurse Codi. Friends are requested to cele- brate Sandra’s life. Autumn Funerals was in charge of arrangements. CHARLES ARMIN MINGER Charles Armin Minger, 86, Keiz- er, died May 13, 2009. A celebra- tion of life was held May 18, with Minger’s son-in-law, Pastor Marion Knoll, officiating. Interment was at Vernonia Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Minger was born July 18, 1922, in Biel, Switzerland, to Emil and Rosa (Michel) Minger. The family moved to Scofield when he was age one, before moving to Vernonia. He received his U.S. Cit- izenship when he was 26. In 1941, he married Dessie Irene May. They made their home in Vernonia. In 1979, they moved to Scappoose, then to Keizer in 2000. He worked on a rigging crew before working at the O-A Lumber Co. until it closed in 1957. Then he drove a fork lift in St. Helens for 24 years. Survivors include his wife; one son, Steve of Vernonia; two daugh- ters, Diana Knoll and Kathy Eck- land, both of Keizer; six grandchil- dren; 17 great-grandchildren.
