The drawing will be for two cords of dry fir and hardwood mix. The drawing will be held at Lee’s U-Catch on July 26 at noon. Tickets are available at Creatures Pet Shop, Black Bear Coffee Company, Vernon- ia True Value, V&V Leather and other area businesses and cost $5.00 per ticket or six tickets for $25.00. Evie Morgan, of Vernonia, graduated from George Fox University during the universi- ty’s spring commencement ceremonies held April 26. More than 600 students earned de- grees. Enforcement has been suspended in consideration of lost records and other problems caused by December’s flooding. To aid Vernonia residents, Columbia County Animal Con- trol will hold a dog licensing clinic on Saturday, July 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The $25 late penalty fee will be waived to help support Vernon- ia residents affected by the flood. Penalty fee waiver will continue for Vernonia residents until August 1. The licensing clinic will be held in front of Vernonia City Hall. Owners do not need to obtain a temporary license and then obtain current rabies vac- cination or proof.
