Band Director Robert Izzett said this is a real vote of confidence and a boost to the Vernonia Schools Band pro- gram. Incorporating humor with in- tricate playing and a touch of history, the internationally ac- claimed Dallas Brass will per- form some of America’s great- est hits – from the past 230 years – during their perform- ance at Washington Grade School on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Stirring audiences of all ages wherever they go, the Dallas Brass will perform the sounds of Henry Mancini, Ben- ny Goodman, Leonard Bern- stein, John Philip Sousa, Aaron Vernonia Community Pre- school will resume classes on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, fol- lowing an extended maternity leave for teacher Amy Cieloha. Sym- phonic credits include the Cincinnati Pops, the New York Pops, and the Philly Pops con- ducted by Peter Nero. The Dal- las Brass has performed at Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washing- ton, DC, and has toured over- seas to Europe and the Far East. The Dallas Brass includes an unprecedented educational component with each perform- ance to educate and inspire lo- cal student musicians. The mu- sic students of Vernonia Middle and High School, as well as qualifying students from other school districts, will spend the afternoon with the Dallas Brass musicians in rehearsals and clinics, then take the stage to perform with the Dallas Brass during the evening perform- ance. “This will be an evening of music this community will not soon forget,” says Michael Levine, Dallas Brass founder and trombonist.
