Holiday Bucks set to begin soon
The Holiday Bucks program,
sponsored by the Vernonia
Chamber of Commerce, will
kickoff at participating local
businesses on Friday, Novem-
ber 16, and continue through
Saturday, December 15.
The program will be similar
to last year’s program: Each
time a shopper fills a card with
$50 in purchases or transac-
tions, they have a chance to
win a “Cash Gift Certificate”
that can be redeemed at any
one of the participating busi-
nesses.
This year Double Stamp day
will be held on “First Friday”,
December 7, and all participat-
ing businesses are encouraged
to stay open late so those who
commute will be able to shop in
the evening.

How’s this for a fast thinking
senior moment? Abraham Lin-
coln, so goes the story, served
as a Captain during the Black
Hawk War of 1832. One day he
found himself leading a militia
company across a field toward
a gate. The proper command
for directing the troops through
the gate escaped him com-
pletely, “This company is dis-
missed for two minutes,” he fi-
nally shouted in desperation,
“And will fall in again on the
other side of the gate.”!
The weather is turning cold-
er, stay safe and warm every-
body. Hopefully, the cooler air
won’t slow our minds down any.

and Addison Marie Wilcoxen
were born October 10, 2007, to
Shelly and Eric Wilcoxen of
Clackamas. Harper weighed 6
pounds and Addison weighed 5
pounds, 3 ounces.
They joined their brother,
Jackson, at the family home.
Grandparents are Bill and
Darlene Wilcoxen of Vernonia,
and John and Bev Crabtree of

The great-grandmother is
