This event is geared for 3-6 year olds, but younger siblings are welcome. This month Miss Kathy will read on the following themes: July 11th: Silly People July 18th: Silly Animals July 25th: The Beach There will be no Preschool Story Time in August due to vacations. The library is now open more hours! Since July 1st, the library is open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us for Craft Night on Wednesday, August 1st from 5-9:00 p.m. Bring whatever craft you’re working on, and enjoy light refreshments, conversation and air conditioning in the library’s Community Room. This event repeats every first Wednesday. Come enjoy the special, entertainment programs that are a part of Summer Reading. These programs are geared for kids in Preschool through sixth grade and are held every Thursday in July at 2:00 p.m. We recommend that you arrive 15-30 minutes before the program since space is limited. Here are the upcoming entertainers: July 12: Angel Ocasio: “Komedy 4 Da Kids” A wonderfully interactive performance combining physical comedy, jokes, juggling, object balancing and magic for the whole family. This is a bilingual program in English and Spanish for all ages. July 19: Victor Johnson: “Roots Music for Kids” Victor and friends provide high energy, fun, acoustic roots music for kids and families of all ages. July 26: Dragon Theater Puppets: “The Clueless Detective Puppet Show” A detective needs your help! All the books in town are go- ing missing and only you can help him solve the case and catch the crook! Reminder for Summer Readers: If you have signed up for Summer Reading Program (SRP) at the Banks Public Library, you may enter our weekly raffle. Fill out one raffle slip for each book you’ve read, or had read to you, each week. You’ll be entered in a drawing for a gift card to Barnes and Noble bookstore. The last day to sign up for SRP is July 14th. Paul has been away the past three summers but, now that he’s returned, a deep secret and grave illness launch the 20-some- things into the adult-world. Non-fiction Einstein by Walter Isaacson. The author of the best- seller Benjamin Franklin , now tackles the famous sci- entist. This is the first, full biography of this wonderful- ly imaginative man since all of his personal letters have become available. Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver. The author of The Bean Trees , and The Poisonwood Bible , explores our relation to food in this new work. Kingsolver and her family under- take a year-long experiment, eating only food that they have grown or was grown or raised in their county of Virginia. Her husband and eldest daughter contribute.
