EAA gathered at airport last week Williams takes 6th and Cota takes 2nd at the races
By Randall Henderson
If you looked up in the sky
on the evening of June 14 you
might have noticed a little more
activity than usual.
That’s because the Experi-
mental Aviation Association,
Hillsboro chapter, held an im-
promptu gathering out at Ver-
nonia’s airport.
All-told, about 50 people in-
volved in the northern Willa-
mette valley aviation club
showed up for the gathering,
some in ground vehicles but
several by air in about 15 air-
planes, many of which flew
overhead in an impressive for-
mation display.
The gathering served as the
club’s monthly meeting and
featured a talk by Mike Seager
about his homebuilt aircraft
transition-training
program.
Seager was the first person
certified by the FAA to provide
flight training for builders of
home-built aircraft. He also
provides ferry and test pilot
services, and says he’s “never
had a hiccup” in more than 60
first flights of experimental air-
craft.
About half the group raised
their hands in answer to a
question of whether they’d
been to Vernonia before. Sev-
eral expressed interest in re-
turning to take advantage of
the camping opportunities on
the bucolic grass strip. The
only complaint heard: “It sure is
bumpy!”

Community Action submitted
a request to the City of Banks

with delivering services to low-
income residents of Banks.
Last year, 99 requests from
Banks households were re-

services was provided. Council
agreed to the donation.
Marion Steinbach, a citizen
