I hope you all had a satisfy- ing Thanksgiving. I did. Though I left town in a downpour and the road out was hydroplane heaven, travel was steady and safe. Except for the sink hole. The State highway people should build a bridge over it and quit wasting time and mon- ey to try and fix it. Someone will bottom out in it in the dark (or daylight) and get hurt. Here’s something for us old- er folks to consider – you think you look like yourself? Au con- traire – folks have told me late- ly “You look tired, what’s wrong with your eyes?” Well, really nothing. Not since I have had surgery and cleaned up the in- fection I somehow got in one of them. But, I find I’ve developed my mother’s eye bags and lids and my father’s jowly chin. So you see it isn’t me anymore, it’s my family tree I’m wearing now. So, please don’t ask, “Are you feeling okay? You look ill.” HoHo. It’s time once again for get- ting set for the Holidays. I be- lieve I’ve used this before but it’s a good repeater. Holiday Recipe for Happi- ness – ingredients; 4 cups of Love 3 cups of Forgiveness 2 cups of Loyalty 1 cup of Friendship 5 spoons of Hope 2 spoons of Tenderness 4 quarts of Faith 1 barrel of Laughter Take Love and Loyalty, mix thoroughly with Faith. Blend with Tenderness, Kindness and Understanding. Sprinkle abun- dantly with Laughter. Bake it with Sunshine. Serve daily with Generous Helpings of Love. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. Spelling Bee slated for those 50 and over Seniors are invited to get ready for another Vernonia Se- nior Spelling Bee, to be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at the Vernonia Senior Center. The time for the event is 1:00 p.m. There is no entry fee, and the only requirement to register is that contestants must be at least 50 years of age.
