The INDEPENDENT, August 17, 2006 Page 13 Smith takes the crown as Jamboree Queen 2006 Jamboree Parade winners Sahrina Smith was chosen as the 2006 Vernonia Friend- ship Jamboree Queen at the Coronation ceremony held on August 4, at the Scout Cabin. Smith was one of four princesses, the other three were Bekah Peerson, Alanna Ogden, and Samantha Lee. The Princess Court acted as Vernonia ambassadors around Columbia County at various events, including a parade in St. Helens on June 17 and then spent three swelteringly hot days at the Columbia County Fair & Rodeo. Heidi Fergason, of Vernonia, was the coordinator and chap- erone for the Princess Court and put in countless volunteer hours helping the young ladies prepare for their duties, raise money and find sponsors for the program. Samuelson wins 2006 All-Around Logger Elsie resident Matt Samuel- son won the title of All-Around Logger at the 2006 Vernonia Jamboree Logging Show. Eric Davis, of Vernonia, was the winner of the Max Sword Sportmanship Award.
