See page 16 Three new members sought for Children and Families Commission Washington County is seek ing applications for new mem bers to fill three vacancies on the C om m ission' on Children and Families (CCF). The Commission works with many partners to look at condi tions that affect children and fam ilies, and recom m ends strategies and funding to im prove those conditions. Part of a statewide network of com m issions, the CCF recom mends funding for key services for children and families and administers a small grants fund to support the development of assets in the community. The fifteen members, repre senting the geographic and cul- tural diversity of the county, must commit 5 to 10 hours per month. At least eight of the members must be lay citizens who do not derive income from children and fam ily services. Commission members are ap pointed by the County Board of Commissioners and must be Washington County residents. The application deadline is August 8, or when all vacan cies are filled.
