Duyck & VanDeHey Funeral Home in Forest Grove was in charge of arrangements. JOHN A. BAKER John A. Baker, 83, Portland, died January 7, 2005. A service was held January 15 in Park Place Evangelical Church in Oregon City. Mr. Baker was born January 30, 1921, in Kerry (near Vernonia). During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. After the war, he moved to Port land. In 1948, he married Bonnie Deitz. He was a railroad engineer for South ern Pacific Railroad for 35 years. Survivors include two sons, Bill and Tom; stepson, Wade Julison; step daughter, Judith Hawes; eight grand children; nine great-grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to Milwaukie Senior Center. Lincoln Memorial was in charge of arrangements. ROLAND HENRY DUYCK Roland Henry Duyck, 69, Cornelius, died January 7, 2005. Recitation of the rosary, followed by a funeral Mass, was held January 11 at Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. Mr. Duyck was born November 13, 1935, in Roy. He graduated from Banks High School and served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He was a farmer. Survivors include his mother; two sons, Wayne and Roger; two daugh ters, Sandy Knox and Joyce Van- derzanden; nine grandchildren. A me morial service was held December 30, interment was at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in North Plains. Mrs. Devlaeminck was born Sep tember 5, 1926, n Wapanauka, Okla homa, to Robert and Louava (Austin) Johnson. In 1952, she married Felix Devlaem inck. They made their home near Pump kin Ridge. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by six siblings. Survivors include three sons, Bert of North Plains, Felix, Jr. of Tampa, Florida and Joe of Portland; three daughters, Jane Devlaeminck of North Plains, Shannon Loe of Beaverton and Carol Tomino of Lockport, N.Y.; one sis ter, Mary Reagan of Portland; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Mr. Ellis was born April 3, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Albert Sidney and Emma Turknett Ellis. He was raised in Banks. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. In 1981, he married Diantha Ander son. They made their home in Hillsboro until moving to Lafayette in 1985. He was an auto mechanic and worked for General Electric for eight years. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Cyrus of Newberg, Johnny of Lafayette and Marvin of Hubbard; a daughter, Carol Wall of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a step-daughter, Tammi Hall of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, Albert of Bend and Kenneth of Tacoma, Washington; two sisters, Christine Brooks of Cornelius and Marie Ade of St. Helens; 11 grandchildren; two great- W estside C remation & B urial S ervice , inc DOROTHY BERNICE EVANS Dorothy Bernice Evans, 85, Beaver ton, died December 27, 2004. Mrs. Evans was born October 1, 1919, in Gary, Indiana. Her maiden name was Burkey. She was a home maker. She moved to Vernonia in 1962 and to Beaverton in 2002. Survivors include a son, Tommy; a daughter, Carol Ellis; four grandchil dren; one great-grandchild. American Burial was in charge of arrangements. JAMES FRANCIS HARMON James Francis Harmon, 65, Ver nonia, died January 9, 2005. A memori al service will be held Saturday, Janu ary 22 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Scout Cabin in Vernonia. Mr. Harmon was born November 25, 1939, in Glennwood, Minnesota, to Donald Arthur and Madge Aubrey (Jud kins) Harmon. He served in the U.S. Navy, then moved to Portland. In 1970, he married Bobby Joe. They made their home in Portland until moving to Vernonia about 20 years ago. He worked as a truckdriver until retiring. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Walter Willey of Springfield and James D. of Myrtle Point; four daughters, Can- di Binns and Bobby Joe Sumpter, both of Portland, P. Lee Vaughn of Glad stone and Tabitha Strong of Sandy; a brother, Dale of Vancouver; three sis ters, Nellie Oliver of Warren, Kathy Jef fers of Scappoose and Becky Mont gomery of California; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. FRED ROLAND HUNDLEY, JR. Fred Roland Hundley, Jr., 86, Forest Grove, died January 1, 2005. A memo rial service was held January 4. Mr. Hundley was born May 18, 1918, in Carton City, Colorado, to Fred and Alice (Brewer) Hundley, Sr. He graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1935 and attended Oregon Agricultural College. LEROY LEONARD LARSON Leroy Leonard Larson, 76, Valley City, North Dakota, died December 28, 2004. Mr. Larson was born April 9, 1928, in Valley City, to Leonard Melvin and Sylvia Evelyn Amundson Larson. He was raised in North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army. He attended Valley City State Teachers College and earned a master’s degree from the Uni versity of N.D. In 1950, he married Agnes Joyce Sowden. He taught high school in En terprise, worked as an accountant in Portland, and moved his family to Aus tralia for five years while he worked for Hyster. He eventually moved to Banks, where he worked developing land and building homes. When his health began to deteriorate, he moved back to Valley City, N.D. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Joy Larson-Rios and a brother, Lyle James Larson. Survivors include his wife; one son, Dean of Beaverton; two daughters, Paula Charles of Atlanta, Georgia, and Linda Gomez of Coral Gables, Florida; two sisters, Evelyn Is rael, Cedar City, Utah, and Merilyn Pe ter in Sanborn, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. CONNIE HOPE MARTIN Connie Hope Martin, 47, Forest Grove, died December 29, 2004. A me morial service was held January 8 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Wit nesses in Cornelius, with Richard For- shey conducting. Interment was at For est View Cemetery in Forest Grove. Ms. Martin was born February 22, 1957, in Hillsboro, to Vernon and Sue Gladys (Lance) Morgan. She was raised in Gold Beach, Aumsville and Forest Grove. Mrs. McFarlane was born January 22, 1908, in Banks, to Charles and Melissa (Hopkins) Shipley. She was raised in Banks. In 1926, she married George Mc Farlane. They made their home in Man ning, Portland and Maupin before mov ing to Forest Grove in 1930. She was a homemaker and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; two sisters; a son and a grandson. Survivors include three sons, Ray mond of Rockaway, Dr. Stephen of Reno, Nevada, and Edwin of Mil waukie; one daughter, Nadine Kyle of Forest Grove; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. ARDYS AURELIA TURSKA Ardys Aurelia Turska, 92, Mist, died December 25, 2004. A celebration of life service was held January 10 at Haakinson-Groulx Mortuary Chapel in Clatskanie with Pastor Jeff Mullins offi ciating. Ms. Turska was born November 11, 1912, in Edgeley, North Dakota, to Charles and Nettie Mae (Barrett) Wil son. She attended Valley State Teacher’s College in Valley City, N.D., graduated from the University of Wyoming, and attended Portland State University from 1959 to 1971. She was a teacher. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle Wilson, Arden Wilson and Neal Wilson and a sister, DeLome Wise. Survivors include a sister, Bonnie Norris of Eugene; step-children, William L. Lyon and Martyn Hanson; three grandchildren; two great-grand children, nieces and nephews.
