Fire season ended October
6, according to the Oregon De-
partment of Forestry’s Colum-
bia Unit Office.
Burning is now regulated on
a day-to-day basis by the local
fire districts and the Oregon
Department of Forestry. Per-
mits are required for any open
burning within Columbia Coun-
ty. The burning of domestic
waste and yard debris requires
a valid permit. For those out-
side of rural fire districts, the
Department of Forestry issues
the permits.
With the end of fire season,
fire prevention, fire watch and
fire suppression equipment re-
quirements are lifted for forest
workers.
