Road closures affect area traffic REMINDER - Glencoe Road will be closed between Ever- green and Scotch Church roads from June 14 through June 18 for bridge repairs, which will include grinding down the existing pavement surface and repaving. Motorists should use alter- nate routes, such as Jackson School Road for cars and Shute Road for trucks. Gales Creek Road will also be closed, between David Hill and Roderick roads, from June Jim Dandy Farm Market Fresh Fruit - Vegetables Senior coupons accepted 14 through June 24 for culvert replacement. Highways 6 and 47 may be used as alternate routes. Several bridges and culverts are scheduled for repair or re- placement this year, with each one requiring a road closure. Roads that will be affected in- clude Mountaindale, Pongratz, Strassel, and Zion Church roads. Zachary Cottam, the last of five brothers to earn an Eagle award When Zachary Cottam was honored with his Eagle Scout award, June 9, the ceremony marked both a first and a last: Cottam is the first member of Troop 157 to receive his Eagle Scout, but he is the last of five sons of Cliff and Becky Cottam, of Banks, to receive this honor. Cottam joins a long list of Eagle Scouts in his family. In addition to his four brothers, his father, four uncles, and at least 10 cousins have all earned the honor. When Troop 195 dissolved, he joined Troop 157, sponsored by the Cor- nelius Ward, LDS Church, to complete his requirements. Cottam’s service project was installing a sprinkler system and repairing benches for the grounds around the Forest Grove Pool. He was assisted by his family and Scoutmaster Bob Spencer, along with sever- al troop members. His Scouting experience included working summers for the Boy Scouts, as a councilor at Camp Ireland and a Cub Scout Day Camp councilor, and as water activi- ties instructor at Camp Meri- wether. Cottam is a 2003 graduate of Banks High School, where he was a member of both the Honor Society and the Banks Swim Team. He is studying computer science at Portland State University and works for the Business Education Com- pact on assignment to Intel.
