Car seat safety clinic scheduled Oregon’s Child Restraint law now mandates that chil- dren between 40 and 60 pounds, and between four and six years of age, must use a booster seat. The Child Safety Seat Resource Center and Tuality Healthcare will present a car seat safety clinic on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Tuality Community Hospital parking garage. Enter the garage from SE 8th Ave., between Baseline and Oak in Hillsboro. Drive through and certified technicians will check how you’re using any type of seat(s) in your vehicle. Confirm how to install a seat securely, use locking clips properly, and when it’s required to switch your growing child to the next appropriate seat. The clinic is free and no reg- istration is required. Diesel Career Fair at PCC Apr. 30 More than 500 high school students from Tillamook to Portland will attend Portland Community College’s fourth annual Diesel Career Fair on Friday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hosted by PCC’s Diesel Service Technology department, the event will be held in Room 117 of Building 2 at the Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road. Students will get to experi- ence hands-on learning that shows what today’s diesel technicians do in the field. These sessions will include air conditioning troubleshooting; anti-lock braking systems; bob- cat skid steer operation; electri- cal component troubleshooting; electronic engine diagnostics; hydraulic system troubleshoot- ing and more. Also, local diesel employers will talk to the stu- dents about careers and show- case the newest heavy equip- ment and medium/heavy-duty trucks. The Diesel Career Fair is co- sponsored by the Northwest Diesel Industry Council and local heavy equipment/heavy- duty truck companies from around the Portland area.
