The Murphy’s Furniture St.
Patrick’s Day Parade will be
Saturday, March 13. Murphy’s
Furniture is proud to present
this community event that ben-
efits the Boys & Girls Club of
Portland.
The celebration will begin
with staging at 9:00 a.m. in the
parking lot across from Hare
Field, on NE Grant Street in
Hillsboro, with the parade be-
gining at 11 a.m. From Hare
Field, the parade route contin-
ues east to Cornell Road,
south on Main St., West on
Main to 2nd Ave., north on 2nd
to Grant St., and east back to
Hare Field.
The $20.00 entry fee bene-
fits the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Portland. Entry forms for the
parade have been mailed to all
previous participants. Addition-
al entry forms are available at
many Hillsboro businesses, or
at Murphy’s Furniture in Cor-
nelius.

grams are invited to attend a
one-day, career-planning event
March 3 at Western Oregon
University in Monmouth.
The event, Criminal Justice
Careers Day, is one of WOU’s
more popular career-oriented
programs, where participants
can:
Explore the fields of law en-
forcement, corrections, parole
and probation and other criminal
justice professions during the
Career Opportunities Panel;
Meet with representatives
from law enforcement agen-
cies, correctional institutions,
detention and jail facilities, ju-
venile and adult probation and
parole programs and various
special service fields during the
career fair; and
Learn about college degree

a.m. for check-in with the wel-
come address at 10:30 a.m.
Workshops on correctional in-
stitutions, law enforcement, pa-
role and probation and commu-
nity crime prevention will be
held from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15
p.m. A lunch break will be held
from 12:15 to 1 p.m. and the
career fair will run from 1 to 3
p.m. Optional campus tours will
be led from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

program is due Friday, Feb. 27.

Staley’s Manager Jay Rizvi
Staley’s, at the junction of
Hwy 26 and Hwy 47, has been
under new management since
January and the changes are
noticeable. Since new manager
Jay Rizvi took over, prices, in-
cluding gas and cigarettes, are
down, while quality and service
are up.
He and his six employees work
together to provide fast, friend-
ly service. Rizvi enjoys “seeing
familiar faces,” but likes “seeing
new faces, too.”
Some of the changes being
enjoyed by Staley’s customers
include good coffee – made
fresh every hour – and expand-
ed fresh deli items. The morn-
ing deli selections were picked
to appeal especially to truckers
and loggers, as well as com-
muters.
In the future, Rizvi plans to
change over to Shell gasoline,
remodel and expand, and
wants to be able to accept Ore-
gon Trail cards.
For now, Staley’s is again of-
fering free coffee with your fuel
fill-up. If you haven’t stopped in
at Staley’s for a while, take time
to see the changes. If you’ve
never been to Staley’s, stop by
and become acquainted.
