VUYLSTEK E Mark L. Vuylsteke, 42, Cornelius, died S eptem ber 11, 2003. A m em orial service w as held Septem ber 17 at St. M atthew C atholic Church in Hillsboro, with Fr. Juan Jose Gonzales and C hap lain Bryan McKelvey, of the W ashing ton County S heriff’s Office, conducting. Mr. Vuylsteke w as born July 7, 1961, in Hillsboro, to Paul and Marian Vandehey Vuylsteke. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from H illsboro High School in 1980. In 1980, he m arried Alison Stra- chan. They lived in Forest Grove and m oved to C ornelius in 1992. He w orked for Merix C orporation and for the C ity of Yamhill as a police- officer. He was chief of the Gaston Po lice D epartm ent for five years and pre viously served as a reserve officer. Mr. Vuylsteke was a volunteer with the Forest G rove Fire Departm ent for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his fa ther. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Derek L. of C ornelius and Ryan J. of Vernonia; his mother, of Hillsboro; three sisters, Donna Sohler of McM innville, Patty Duval of Portland, and Janet Ju dah of C ornelius; a brother, Dale of H illsboro; several nieces and nephews. A funeral m ass was celebrated Septem ber 6 at St. Edward C atholic C hurch in North Plains, with Bishop Kenneth Steiner, celebrant. Graveside services were at St. Edward Catholic C em etery in N orth Plains. Mr. Vandecoevering was born April 4, 1944, in Forest Grove, to W alter and D orothy Delplanche Vandecoevering. He grew up in North Plains and gradu ated from H illsboro High School in 1962. In 1965, he m arried Elizabeth Van- G runsven. They lived in North Plains. He w orked as a m illright for Shady brook Lumber. Survivors include his wife; a son, Doug of Reedsville; a daughter, Kris tine of Hillsboro; his m other of North Plains; four sisters, Doris o f North Plains, Bem ita Robinson of Vernonia, Joanne W itham o f North Plains, and Carol Loza of Vancouver, Wash.; many nieces and nephews. A m e m orial was held Septem ber 19 at the Forest Grove Elks Lodge. Mr. Hitchm an w as born O ctober 12, 1913, in Underwood, Wash., to Frank and Je n n y H itchm an. A fter leaving school, he becam e a logger. In 1946, he m arried M argaret Bem ash. He w orked for Brodersen's in Forest Grove as a linoleum layer. After retirem ent, they m oved to Nehalem. He w as ja n ito r at G aribaldi Elem entary School. In 1974, they m oved to C or nelius. He was a m em ber of the Elks and the C ornelius Eagles. Mr. H itchm an w as p re ce d e d in death by his wife in 1995 and a d a u g h ter, Shari Bowm an, in 1999. Survivors include three daughters, C la u d ia M orrison o f LaP ine, Linda Spiering of Banks, and Kris Tina C roan of Tacoma, W ash.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. G raveside se rvic es were held Septem ber 18 at Vernon ia M em orial Cem etery, with the R ev erend John Cahill, pastor of First B ap tist C hurch in Vernonia, officiating. Mr. Bolm eier w as born Septem ber 4, 1942, in Fargo, North Dakota, to W esley L. and O ra Jean Ham m erud Bolmeier. They m oved to Erie, N. Dak., and then to Vernonia. He grew up in Vernonia and graduated from Vernonia High School in 1960. He w orked as an assem bler for the B -Line M a n u fa ctu rin g C om pany in Portland. Survivors include a sister, G retchen Bush of Hillsboro; nieces and nephew s. G raveside service w as held Septem ber 25 at Pleasant View C em etery in S her wood, with P astor D ennis B rindley o ffi ciating. Mr. M cN am ee w as born D ecem ber 24, 1926, in Springdale, to Alozo and A lvia R ichardson M cN am ee. T h e y m oved to Stafford when he was eight years old. He served in the U nited States Army. In 1949, he m arried M artha Bush- baum. He w orked as a rock runner for Portland C em ent and retired in 1984. They m oved to W oodburn in 1985 and to Vernonia in 1990. Mr. M cN am ee w as preceded in death by a son, Raym ond, three b ro th ers and one sister. A potluck reception will be held following the m em orial service at Vernonia C om m unity C hurch, 957 State Avenue. Mrs. Snook w as born M ay 7, 1907, in O verton, Nebraska, to Kendall and Ida C heney Dustin. She grew up in O verton and graduated from O verton High School in 1925. In 1926, she m arried Virgil Lewis S nook. T h e y lived in O ve rto n and m oved to Vernonia in 1933. She w as an active m em ber of Ver nonia C om m unity C hurch and taught S unday School for over thirty years. She also taught Bible classes and di rected a H appy H our Bible Club for kids, sponsored by the U nion Gospel M ission. Mrs. S nook w as preceded in death by her husband in 1990; three brothers, Ellis, Luther and M eari Dustin; and three sisters, M yra Dustin, Laura Bird, and Dollie Dustin. S urvivors include four sons, M elvin E. of Yorba Linda, C alifornia, R ussell R. o f C ornelius. Joe L. of Portland, Pastor M ax R. o f D eer Island, tw o daughters, B etty J. Jacobs o f Yacolt, W ashington, Alice A.
